Mayor Race info Magathread

The Grand Old Mayoral Race:

Hello Los Santos! I'm Jesus! You may remember me from my bit part in "To Catch a Predator" or perhaps from my famous interview with Shawn Smith. Regardless, I'm here to announce the first bi-monthly mayoral race!

First, some information for the voters:
We WILL be having some semblance of a primary election. Candidates that do not get enough votes will be weeded out in the first round. The top candidates will go onto the next round, and so on and so forth, until a mayor has been decided! I, and the rest of the ADMIN TEAM have the right to veto any candidates that we feel will do a really really shitty job. That said, unlike past elections, I will be watching for voter fraud LIKE A HAWK. Rest assured, your vote will count!

After the mayor has been decided, he will reign for one month unless he is impeached, by a 2/3 majority vote. At that point, another election may be held, or we will simply instate the mayor of our choosing. At the end of the two week period, another election will be held. The incumbent mayor will run against the finalists in the race.

Please only respond to mayoral campaign threads with questions for the candidates - keep your comments to yourself, unless you feel strongly enough to make a thread wherein you call out the candidate for the reasons they should not be mayor.

Second, information for candidates:

So, you want to be mayor? The mayor is a position of fame and grandeur! You will be the most important man, or woman, in Los Santos. However, at this point, all the mayor can do is communicate with his citizens via governmental announcements, adjust taxes, and hold some sway over the LSPD's internal affairs and policy. It will be up to you to promote changes you would like to see during your campaign! We want to make the mayor position evolve with the politics of Los Santos! If you're ready to start campaigning, just make a thread in this forum! You're welcome to campaign any way you like!

However, you MUST remember that changing laws is NOT the be all end all of winning the election. To win, you're going to have to have some real substance. People who campaign on only the legalization of guns and drugs will be vetoed by myself. Look in the second post for a list of laws that you might be able to change.

Third, this is a call for bodyguards. Unlike in the past, the mayor will not be a glorified crime lord with an army of secret police who have carte blanche to do whatever they want. We will be selecting a few, qualified bodyguards to defend the mayor. If you think you might enjoy the job of taking around a dope who will be getting shot at most of the time, please fill out the form below and PM it to me. If you do a GREAT job here, you will likely get easy entrance into the LSPD. Thanks!
